How to improve my obesity problem?
Ok, so the problem is I've gained 15 pounds in one year.
I am currently 14 years old, 5 foot 11 and 165 pounds.
When I was 11, I weighed around 120 pounds, which did make me have a lump of fat hanging around my chin. Two years in India had been kind to me and I was lean again but one year in America had raised my weight too much.
My diet consists of Indian Food 2-3 times a day. That would be a sort of cooked vegetable with potatoes or fried stew with beans. We rarely have fruit other than banana or apples. Meat is prohibited in my house, and all are vegetables are usually cooked. Although, I would always have a sandwich for lunch at school, and I always drink a glass of milk before reading.
I would pick up a bottle of Sunny D or gatorade each day and eat either chips, ice cream, oatmeal, nachos, or burritos. Again at night I have something else to eat while at the computer.
Every day I wake up around 10-12, eat breakfast, play video games for 2-3 hours, do chores if any, eat lunch, do my summer homework hours, run laps (2-3 miles, 30-45 minutes), eat dinner, read a book and then watch tv shows on my computer (which can get as late as 2, early as 11 PM).
Normally, I used to do this and it wouldn't affect my weight. My BMI stayed the same for four years and now I gain 15 pounds in one year. I usually aren't concerned about my increase in weight because I always managed to get it down, but 15 pounds is way to much.
As you realize I'm not athletic and I'll have 9 hour summer school, but I do run everyday and will take cross country to make sure I don't gain too much weight.

Answers:
Too much sitting around and not enough intense working out. If it takes you "30-45 minutes to run 2-3 miles" then you are not doing enough intensity. Most people can walk that far in 30-45 mins. You should be running at least a 10 minute mile for your age (or faster). The most best way is to exercise with the FIT principle. Frequency, Intensity, and Time. Watch the snacking at bed time too.
